About the Department

The Department of Food and Nutrition Technologies at Babagurgur University is dedicated to advancing knowledge and providing education in the fields of food science, nutrition, and dietetics. Our program integrates principles of biology, chemistry, and health sciences to prepare students for careers focused on improving community nutrition, food safety, and dietetic services.

With state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and experienced faculty members, we offer comprehensive theoretical knowledge alongside practical training. Our curriculum emphasizes the scientific foundations of food and nutrition while addressing contemporary challenges such as food security, nutrition-related diseases, and sustainable food systems in Kurdistan and beyond.

Our Facilities

Food Science Laboratory

Equipped with modern apparatus for food composition analysis, quality testing, and sensory evaluation.

Nutrition Assessment Lab

Features tools and equipment for anthropometric measurements, body composition analysis, and dietary assessment.

Food Processing Pilot Plant

Includes small-scale food processing equipment to provide hands-on experience in food production and preservation techniques.

Microbiology Laboratory
